Solutions to Help Customers Meet their Compliance Obligations

Organizations doing business in a particular country* are required to comply with country-specific laws, regulations and common business practices to handle their business operations and meet their legal obligations for activities conducted in the country. Non-adherence to laws and regulations may lead to severe consequences for an organization doing business in that country.

As an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, Microsoft Dynamics software helps organizations manage their various business processes.  To help organizations manage their business processes and meet their compliance obligations, ERP systems like Microsoft Dynamics need to address the local laws, regulations and/or language requirements for a specific  country.  Microsoft extends the business process functionality of Microsoft Dynamics software by developing features to address specific commercial requirements, language and non-vertical, national or international laws or regulations (such as tax, accounting and financial or statutory reporting) for countries where Microsoft makes this software generally available.  Adapting software to meet country-specific laws or regulations is called localization, while translation is the process of adapting software to meet language requirements for a particular country.

While Microsoft Dynamics software ”out-of-the-box” is localized and/or translated to address specific laws and/or regulations for particular countries, it is not supported in terms of localizations, translations or technical support in all countries since laws and regulations that affect business vary in each country.

Channel partners are an important part of our global strategy for delivering Microsoft Dynamics solutions to help customers meet local laws and regulatory requirements.  By utilizing the extensible nature of the development architecture of Microsoft Dynamics software, under the Microsoft Dynamics Partner Localization and Translation Licensing Program (PLLP), our channel partners can:

  • Supplement the base Microsoft Dynamics software by developing functionality to meet specific laws or regulations that are not covered in such software ”out-of-the-box” (e.g., regulations that are unique to states, provinces, cities or municipalities in a particular country);
  • Create their own localizations and/or translations in countries where Microsoft does not offer a localized or translated version of Microsoft Dynamics software; or

Channel partners are solely responsible for any configurations, customizations, localizations and/or translations they create or implement on behalf of customers, including any support or other services they provide to customers for such solutions.  Further channel partners must meet specific requirements in order to participate in this program.
